Sisi Beku

A week before my postpartum depression diagnosis, I created this piece as a way to understand the turbulent emotions swirling inside me. "Sisi Beku" emerged from my need to visualize what mental health struggles felt like—the frozen yet chaotic state I was navigating. Using watercolor, I layered translucent washes to capture how clarity and confusion coexist, how stillness can mask inner turmoil. The painting conveys a sense of chaos restrained, colors bleeding and pooling in ways I couldn't fully control. I wanted the viewer to feel the complexity of a mind that appears composed on the surface while fracturing beneath. This piece speaks to anyone who has wrestled with invisible battles, particularly those moments when you're searching for words but can only find colors.
