Scape goat

I am inspired by my own life experience and the emotional weight of becoming a scapegoat. Scape Goat explores the burden of blame, sacrifice, and the resilience required to rebuild after losing one's identity, dignity, and sense of belonging. Rather than depicting a specific event, the artwork reflects a universal human experience—how individuals can become the carriers of collective guilt and judgment. The goat serves as a timeless symbol of innocence, sacrifice, and endurance. Its presence represents those who bear consequences that extend beyond themselves, while remaining resilient in the face of adversity. The exposed wooden surface is deliberately preserved, allowing its natural grain, cracks, and imperfections to become part of the narrative. These raw elements symbolize memories and emotional scars that cannot be erased, but instead shape personal growth and transformation. Through expressive colours, layered textures, and the contrast between raw and painted surfaces, I seek to express the tension between despair and hope, loss and renewal. My intention is to transform personal adversity into a visual language that resonates with a wider audience, encouraging reflection on empathy, justice, and the strength of the human spirit. Ultimately, Scape Goat is a testament to resilience, demonstrating that even in moments of profound hardship, creativity can become a path toward healing, self-discovery, and renewal.
