Emerald Gaze: Tiger Spirit

I created this piece inspired by Harimau Malaya, Malaysia's beloved football team. Their fierce spirit and unwavering determination on the pitch moved me to capture that raw intensity through the tiger—a symbol of power and pride that runs deep in our culture. Using bold acrylics, I painted the tiger's emerald gaze to represent the watchful, calculating energy of a champion athlete in the moment before the strike. The brushwork is direct and expressive, layering colours to build depth in the eyes while keeping the composition bold and striking. Every stroke reflects the garang—the fierce, aggressive spirit—that defines both the tiger and the players who wear the Harimau colours. This is for anyone who feels that same burning passion when they watch our national team play, or who simply admires the untamed power of nature's greatest hunters.
